Our Japanese coffee at home today is drip bag by Seijo Ishii.
Seijo Ishii is luxury grocery store, focusing on both imported and domestic products.
Seijo Ishii has private coffee brand, both roasted beans and drip bag (they have tons of private roasted beans, trust me.)
There are 5 kinds of drip bags offered by Seijo Ishii:
- Mocha drip coffee
- Organic drip coffee
- Mild drip coffee
- Rich drip coffee
- Caffeinless drip coffee
There are few characteristics the private brand has in common:
・The coffee has 12g per bag, while you normally see 10g, or even 8g sometimes at stores (e.g. Muji brands)
・Relatively large bag which allows to pour hot water easily
・While it keeps certain quality, it saves money.
Now it is time to review the Rich drip.

Review
Husband:
・Smells like chocolate, rather than fruit. Sweet smell.
・Once you sip, Sharp bitterness comes first (yes it is rich), however you can drink smoothly like water. It may be heavy, but not necessarily rich.
・Tastes like dark chocolate and cacao.
・Food pairing-wise, chocolate and bread with rich flavor (for example, cream bread) fits well
・As it gets cold, bitterness and sourness goes away.
Wife:
・Smells like soy sauce
・indeed rich taste
・sourness and bitterness outstands the same
・If you drink straight, may not be the best option, while it could be the first choice if you put milk, or put some ice
You can find the private brands at the stores. Although there is online stores, you may not be able to find the exact same product. Also, English site does not exist.
